Ryan Smith and Shane Brereton battled to the top of the championship standings as Pembrey hosted Round 2 of the 2017 BTRA British Truck Racing Championship… which featured plenty of wheel-to-wheel action!
On-form Smith took ‘pole’ position and powered to two wins in Wales – which puts the reigning champion 8 points clear of fellow MAN racer Shane Brereton in the Division One rankings.
The Welsh event also saw first victories of the season for David Jenkins (MAN), Terry Gibbon (MAN) and Oly Janes (Freightliner) – which makes it seven different winners from the first ten races!
Division 2 Doubles for Cole & Smith
With BTRA Division 2 points leader Mika Makinen having technical troubles, Pembrey brought two wins for another SISU driver – Tony Smith – and another ‘double’ for Simon Cole, allowing the Mercedes man to close to within four points of his Finnish rival.
After a troubled start to the season Luke Garrett finally got his MAN sorted to also claim a Pembrey win.
Next race in the 2017 BTRA British Truck Racing Championship is at Thruxton Circuit (Hampshire) on June 3 /4.
